Welcome to Commission Culture
Welcome to the Commission Culture website, the Internet home of evangelism and outreach in the Oregon Conference.
We believe that God has called every Christian to participate in the Great Commission, that He equips those He calls, and that He’s working right here in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Look around and see what we mean!
What is Commission Culture?
Commission Culture is a phrase used in the Oregon Conference to describe what we’re all about—churches and individuals hearing in the Great Commission of Jesus their own personal mission. It means living out that Commission in our lives, rearranging our priorities, stepping out of the comfort zone, and intentionally reaching out to people for the Kingdom.
Commission Culture isn’t a program—there are no manuals, no cutting and pasting, no plug and play. That means that each congregation and each person has the freedom to participate in the Commission in their own way, in their own context, with their own unique gift mix.
Commission Culture isn’t about numbers, either. Instead of measuring success by counting soggy baptismal robes, we’re rethinking success in terms of the biblical definition: obedience to God’s command. Success, in the words of one of our administrators, is found in the answer to these two questions:
1. Is the Gospel message being shared? 2. How many people are participating in sharing it?
We’re aiming for “always” and “everybody.” Commission Culture is what we believe God’s vision is for us. Would you like to join in?
